10 Things You Didn't Know About Macho Man Randy Savage
2. Vince Was Crushed When Savage Left WWE For WCW
In 1993 and 1994, Savage's role was diminishing very quickly. Instead of having high profile feuds with the likes of Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior, he was wrestling sporadically against wrestlers like Doink and Repo Man. Two examples of why the Attitude Era started. Savage would also be on commentary more often, as this was the time that Monday Night Raw was just getting off the ground. Savage wanted to do a retirement feud and put over a rising Shawn Michaels, but it was shot down and Savage finally had enough. Though Savage had every right to leave the WWE for WCW due to barely being used, it still affected Vince greatly. When you look at Vince McMahon from the outside looking in, you see a shrewd and tough business man who doesn't take sh*t from anyone, but many wrestlers have gone on record to state that he was pretty crushed. One Savage's latest DVD that was released, Bret Hart stated, "As I recall, Vince was quite shook up about it.", and Kevin Nash added, "I know Vince was beyond shell shocked." Pretty interesting insight on Vince who is as tough as a businessman as they come.
