10 Things Everybody Gets Wrong About Modern WWE

5. Triple H Will Fix Everything

A popular narrative among Vince McMahon's critics is that everything will be better when the 72-year-old finally calls it a day, because his son-in-law, Triple H, will make everything better.

It's a solid argument on paper. 'The Game' has, after all, been responsible for a lot of what's great about WWE in 2017, from NXT's emergence as a wrestling-centric third brand to the company's shift towards signing experienced indie campaigners over untrained fitness models and NFL dropouts. Regardless, the idea that his promotion will wash all of WWE's ills away in one fell swoop doesn't hold up to scrutiny.

While Triple H is almost certainly more in touch with modern wrestling than Vince, let's not forget that he learned everything he knows about running a promotion from the WWE Chairman. He's been under McMahon's wing for years, which makes it extremely likely that he has inherited much of his father-in-law's traits, even the more frustrating ones.

The idea of HHH running Raw and SmackDown like elongated NXT episodes sounds amazing, but Vince's formula has kept WWE secure for years, and it's unlikely 'The Game' would jeopardise that. The idea that he'll be some kind of miracle cure is romantic at best.
