10 Things Everybody Gets Wrong About Triple H's WWE
8. The Old Guard Are Done
You probably learned of the rumours a long time ago; Triple H and Stephanie McMahon despise both Bruce Prichard and Kevin Dunn, and were they ever to take over WWE, the dinosaurs would be gone.
Except Triple H and Stephanie McMahon have taken over WWE, and Bruce Prichard and Kevin Dunn remain employed.
This comes as shock to your writer, too. There's no arrogant suggestion that you were all uninformed enough to think it; the "Everybody" is quite literal in this case.
Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer reported that Kevin Dunn wasn't hovering over the controls as everybody but Vince McMahon bemoaned his nausea-inducing style. Many within the company are in favour of it, for some f*ckin' reason. Triple H even personally mentioned Dunn as an integral part of continuing WWE's legacy.
That said, Triple H can't change everything dramatically because what message would it send? WWE is supposed to be and is the market leader. If he were to imply that it was sh*tty, he'd be saying the quiet part loud and impacting the perception of the company. If Dunn is going, it can't happen yet.
Prichard is different because this turnaround isn't solely the doing of 'Papa H'; after scary declines in 2020, ratings improved to an impressive degree long before the unthinkable happened, and Prichard's increased creative influence is a not inconsiderable part of that.
