10 Things GFW Can Do To Make An Impact On Wrestling
7. Additional Content
While TNA have tried to launch new programming in the past, much of this content has been filler made up of B-roll footage or recycled material. Xplosion has long been TNA’s secondary show and the various historical shows - like Epics and Greatest Matches - were largely just cobbled together batches of old material, presented as just that.
Conversely, the Unfinished Business specials were a great use of their historical footage. Focusing on specific feuds, the show took time to give them historical context and presented them in an exciting way that made each feud seem like something worth revisiting. A combination of Unfinished Business, with supporting classic bouts in the manner of Epics/Greatest Matches would make for a great GFW special and be far more alluring to fans than a throwaway One Night Only PPV.
Despite the project being short-lived, Eric Bischoff and Jason Hervey did a great job introducing fresh content in 2010 with TNA Reaction. The show was different to anything TNA or WWE had previously produced and also allowed TNA to carry their matches and storylines into the second show. With a few tweaks, the Reaction format could hold some promise for GFW, particularly if combined with an upgraded version of Xplosion.
