Jimmy and Jey mention that they kept putting off trying out with WWE until they felt they were actually ready, not wanting to rush it and blow their chance. Prior to their training in Houston the pair had already had a tryout match on SmackDown to prove they were good to go for the big time. Except that they weren't. They recall how they bombed their audition in front of legendary workers like Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker, even going so far as to actually be kicked out of the ring. Twice. The brothers broke down in tears, and even their uncle was disappointed in them, so when they were fortunate enough to get a third opportunity to show the brass at WWE what they could do, they wouldn't take it until they were 100% certain they had what it takes. And thankfully this time around they got the job done.
