WWE’s decision to promote an excellent video of Kassius Ohno’s rise to the level of wrestling genius threw the result of the TakeOver match into the air. Velveteen Dream seems somewhat Teflon, and a win for Ohno may have given the former Chris Hero a little bit of much needed momentum. It wasn’t to be, as Velveteen hit a Purple Rainmaker for the 1-2-3.

Hardcore fans are fully aware of Kassius Ohno’s ability as a professional wrestler, but it is a little difficult to take him seriously as a ‘wrestling genius’ when he loses more often than not. Even so, Velveteen picking up the win here was the right move. It gives Dream a little bit of momentum after big losses to Aleister Black and Johnny Gargano, and establishes him as a step above the likes oh Ohno on NXT.

Kassius Ohno has a very important role to play in NXT, but fans will be disappointed to realise that its a position that doesn’t involve many victories. Ohno will continue to lose to inexperienced stars passing him on the card, along with debuting heroes. If The Knockout Artist is the first obstacle put in the way of EC3, nobody will be surprised.

KO is undoubtedly a wrestling genius, but he is a savant that will lose more often than not. Rightly so.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
