Seeing Edge act all dark, ungrateful and mysterious after two years of cheering him on has left the audience cold. WWE's hardcore fanbase is finding it challenging to get onboard with the thought that Mr. 'Rated-R' doesn't give a crap about them anymore, and it'll take a while before that changes.

There are positives, at least.

Sticking Damian Priest in there as an enforcer type will help his flagging main roster career, and Edge can do the same for others when he recruits. The rumour mill says that both Tommaso Ciampa and Rhea Ripley are being considered for berths in this "New Brood" group that the Hall Of Famer is putting together.

That wouldn't be a bad thing for anyone. Ciampa is at his best when he's allowed to get sinister, and Ripley has the kind of overall look and presence that'd fit snugly into Edge's new presentation. That promo skit on Raw showed that this is worth persevering with.
