Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega is easily one of the greatest rivalries in the short lifespan of All Elite Wrestling. The Death Rider and the Best Bout Machine have beaten the tar out of each other in several bouts, and their rivalry was one of the most heated that AEW has yet to see.

The problem is, the big moment of their big match ended up being a total dud.

When Mox and Omega did battle in an Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch at Revolution 2021, audiences expected a war - and a war we would get. Kenny would retain the AEW World Title on that night, largely thanks to help from the Good Brothers and Don Callis. Post-match, the heels continued to put a beating on Moxley until the ominous doomsday clock hit the one minute mark. That meant that there were just 60 seconds left before the ringside area was completely blown to sh*t.

Realising his long-time pal was about to be set ablaze by an all-mighty explosion, Eddie Kingston ran to the ring and covered Mox, sacrificing his own body to save his buddy. In what was intended to be the ultimate tribute to the infamous Terry Funk vs. Atsushi Onita No Rope Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch of 1993, the end result was laughable as Kingston and Moxley had to lie there and sell the situation while a few sparklers went off around them due to an issue with the planned pyro for this spot.
