During Heyman's time in charge of SmackDown, Brock Lesnar joined the brand on 22 July, hammered Hulk Hogan, captured the Undisputed Title in August from The Rock, feuded extensively with The Undertaker, split from Paul on screen, won the 2003 Royal Rumble and headlined WrestleMania XIX.

It was a whirlwind period for Brock, and he must've been glad to have someone he could trust penning angles for him. Heyman, who had been linked with Lesnar since his debut earlier that year, was always going to ensure his meal ticket had a significant role on SmackDown.

WWE had already pushed Brock, but Heyman's work legitimised him.

Beating Hogan, Rock, 'Taker and Angle helped Lesnar gain credibility with the audience. He went from straight-ahead squash machine between March-June '02 to having some of the best matches in the company by August 2002-March 2003.
