10 Things That MUST Happen Before AEW Full Gear 2022

4. The Inaugural TBS Champion Is A Rising Star

As of this writing, the AEW TBS Title tournament is down to its eight quarterfinalists; Thunder Rosa, Jamie Hayter, Jade Cargill, Red Velvet, Nyla Rose, Hikaru Shida, Kris Statlander, and Ruby Soho.

To get the title over, its first champion should be a rising star. Someone who either will likely never taste the Women's World Title (and those who are previous champions) or isn't quite at that level yet. In other words, it shouldn't be Thunder Rosa, Nyla Rose, Hikaru Shida, or Ruby Soho. Rosa and Soho are destined future champions, while Rose and Shida have already been there. Jamie Hayter should be ruled out, too; having her as TBS Champion while still aligned with Britt Baker won't work, sadly.

Of those left, Jade Cargill is by far the best option.

AEW are obviously keen to push her, as evidenced by her debut match also including Cody Rhodes and Shaquille O'Neal. Though she's lost steam since this 3 March event, Jade remains a higher-tier fixture in AEW. A Women's World Champion in due time perhaps, but not quite yet. The TBS Title will, however, give her that chance to get back on track, while at the same time instantaneously setting the bar regarding the importance of what is effectively the secondary women's title in the company.
