4. Roman Reigns Is Damaged

If WWE were to have Roman Reigns losing the championship to AJ Styles, it would seriously damage the Big Dog's hopes of establishing himself as the franchise guy.

It obviously wouldn't be clean, and it would maybe leave Reigns open for other big matches outside the title scene, but nevertheless it would be a sign of failure to relieve him of the belt at this juncture. Especially after the flip flopping of 2015.

Now is the time to give him a lengthy run, at least giving him the chance to succeed or fail in the spot. If he is to drop the belt so soon again, it wouldn't say much for his franchise credentials. But that could be the way WWE go, maybe they think the freshness of Styles is right for right now.
