10 Things We Learned From A Genuine 1998 WCW Nitro Script

10. Wild Cat Willie Is On There Too

Imagine WWE or AEW had 'Empty Arena Eddie', a costumed mascot who came out before shows to warm up the...oh. Never mind.

Seriously though, it's sometimes strange to think back and realise that WCW had 'Wild Cat Willie'. The mascot only existed to high-five fans, pose for pictures and get everyone in arenas ready for Nitro, Thunder, Saturday Night and pay-per-views. For some reason, he's on the Nitro script here.

Oh yes, it's true. Willie is right at the top too; before the show was slated to begin at 7.59.50pm EST, the Wild Cat was wheeled out to energise the live crowd for a rather stingy two minutes. Two minutes!? What an easy gig that was for whomever was (un)lucky enough to be stuffed into a wildcat-meets-Randy Savage outfit.

There's zero mention of Willie after that opening slot. He was quickly bumped out of the frame so the Nitro Girls could dance during commercial breaks. Would anyone really be surprised to find out that Wild Cat was actually Lenny Lane or some other poor schmuck?
