Some casual fans on the fringes of the industry might not have a clue what the 'worker's handshake' is. Put simply, it's a traditional method between wrestlers of letting one another know how safe they are between the ropes; for example, if someone shakes loosely, then they're not as snug as someone who rips your arm off.

Big Show has always thought it was stupid.

There was only one man he'd use a working handshake on: 'Mean' Gene Okerlund. The gentlemanly announcer was friendly to Show when he was working as The Giant in WCW (not many people were, because most were jealous of his size and immediate push), so Show would carefully shake his hand out of respect.

It's funny to imagine The Giant deliberately ignoring a time-honoured tradition. Anyone who works in wrestling, or has worked in wrestling over the past 20 years, will agree with Show that the working shake has become an excuse for some to big league others backstage.
