10 Things We Learned From Bret Hart On Stone Cold’s Broken Skull Sessions Podcast

1. The 'Mania 13 Analysis Is Gripping

As good as the entire interview with Bret is, it would've suffered without that stunning WrestleMania 13 insight.

There's a good five minute stretch of nothing but behind-the-scenes knowledge, and it's utterly gripping from start to finish. Little facts like learning that Austin ad-libbed a blow with the steel steps and just hoped Bret would cut him off add so much to the chat. The same goes for other spots like Bret grabbing a padded chair instead of a steel one on purpose, Austin not being comfortable performing a superplex from the top rope and more.

Then, there's the revelation that neither man discussed how long they'd play out the end Sharpshooter spot before Austin passed out and Shamrock called for the bell. They played that one totally off the cuff. Later, Hart also improvised a showdown with Ken post-match. Instead of squaring up to him, he slyly backed off to reflect his new heel status.

That's an almost Oscar-worthy level of nuance. Honestly, this five minute rundown of a true classic is worth the price of that WWE Network subscription alone. It's that good. This text doesn't do it justice, so go check it out for yourselves.
