As aforementioned, Bryan did think about life after WWE. If the company wouldn't clear him for action, then he'd go elsewhere. One of his main choices was New Japan, primarily because Daniel wanted to work opposite the Bullet Club.

Note the wording. Bryan didn't see himself becoming a part of the faction, but instead wanted to be their chief rival.

The top idea Daniel had away from the WWE bubble was to re-stage heated "Hair vs. Mask" matches in CMLL. Other than that, he fancied tangling with The Young Bucks and their Club cohorts over in New Japan, working a series of matches he believed could take independent wrestling to the next level. Fans enjoying Chris Jericho's own work in New Japan must be licking their lips at the thought.

Those ideas would never progress beyond a text or two. WWE stepped in and offered Bryan the chance to become a full-time pro wrestler again. As that was all he ever wanted, he accepted.
