6. His Unknown Connection To The Rock
One of the nicer stories Lacy told on 'Dark Side' was about being backstage around the other wrestlers during that 'Attitude' peak. In particular, she loved being around The Rock most all. He shares a birthday with her dad (2 May), so the family would make Rocky birthday cards every year and celebrate together. That was certainly news to this wrestling hardcore - it's awesome to learn something new from these episodes.
Many reading this probably don’t even know that Rock and Boss Man were firm friends behind the scenes. Apparently, they were, and Lacy got to witness it up close firsthand. That would've been a trip to see her dad warring with Rocky on television after 'The Great One' split from The Corporation, but the pair were all smiles and laughs behind the curtain.
Lacy also name-checked Steve Austin as another wrestler she enjoyed spending some time with. She was scared of 'Stone Cold' at first, because he cut such an intense and menacing figure, but he was a total sweetheart around other worker's children, and that struck home with Lacy. Regardless of what was going on in Ray's personal life, he was always thrilled to be with his peers. It's ace that Lacy got to see that side of him away from home.
Unfortunately, it was a missed spot involving Austin that'd cost Boss Man a potentially lucrative run on top of the cards opposite the WWF's 'Attitude' bread winner. VICE went into detail on that sorry episode too...
