Cornette told Jimmy Garvin what had happened to Allen, and it was Garvin who gave Terry an address...out in the Carolinas. Undeterred and desperate for an in, the future Magnum T.A travelled out to meet Buzz Sawyer, and he shocked the con artist by turning up at his front door.
They trained for approx two hours, but that did prove to be the in Allen was looking for. Buzz was stunned Terry had come all that way, and agreed to show him some things inside the ring after all. Magnum admitted on VICE's doc that he never got his $10,000 back even after exposing the con though.
Bummer.
It'd be interesting/alarming to find out just how many other aspiring pro wrestlers Sawyer stiffed out of big money back in the 1980s. This cannot have been a one-off - he likely had success stinging others, then skipping town and never seeing them again. Sounds like a classy bloke, eh?
