10 Things We Learned From Goldberg On Stone Cold's Sessions Podcast

3. Stone Cold Almost Ran The Ropes At 'Mania XX

Stone Cold Steve Austin, Goldberg, Brock Lesnar
WWE

WrestleMania XX's match between Goldberg and Brock Lesnar was one of the most awkward in WWE history and an embarrassing moment for both. Fans packed into MSG taunted the outgoing pair with chants of, "You Sold Out", and that unsavoury atmosphere made working nearly impossible.

Austin was feeling the heat too, and he almost cracked under the pressure. On 'Broken Skull Sessions', Stone Cold admitted that he was tempted to run the ropes and give fans something, anything to cheer. That was an old spot he'd picked up from Bobby Eaton (of all people) in WCW, but he decided not to steal the spotlight.

It probs wouldn't have helped anyway. People were too busy crapping all over Goldberg and Lesnar for having the cheek to flee WWE's nest. Had Austin performed some random sprints mid-match, he could've made the situation even worse.

If, Goldberg was keen to point out, it could've been any worse.
