Now this would've been cool.

Jeff and Austin dipped into the 'Broken Universe' that Matt pioneered over in TNA. That's when his bro revealed that WWE wouldn't green light a proper continuation of it when the team returned in 2017 - curse creative, because they didn't want to do something potentially special with The Usos.

Both Hardy Boyz wanted to work a 'Broken Penitentiary' match with Jimmy and Jey during their comeback tour as a tag-team. It would've been a cinematic match (years before WWE became obsessed with them mid-pandemic) in an abandoned old prison. This was designed to fit into Jimmy/Jey's "welcome to The Usos penitentiary" gimmick.

Christ knows why WWE decided against this one. Instead, they had both squads square off in regular tag matches before moving on, but Jeff and Matt fancied having a full-blown feud with The Usos. Apparently, one-off title bouts on SmackDown, and a few other matches here and there, was all WWE wanted to do.
