10 Things We Learned From Paul Wight On Renée Paquette's Podcast
5. Why He Almost Kicked Jimmy Hart’s Ass
Time for a diversion.
Wight stopped for a quick WCW story in amongst all the WWE and AEW chat, and it was worth it. He remembered meeting with Eric Bischoff before inking his first pro wrestling contract in 1995. During the meeting, Eric offered the super-green Giant $700 per week to train at the company's Power Plant.
Jimmy Hart, who was there representing Wight, turned that down and assured the newbie that WCW would come back with a better offer. That incensed Paul, so much so that he grabbed Jimmy by the throat in the parking lot outside the CNN Centre and asked him what the hell he was thinking.
WCW didn't call back, at least not for a while. Eventually, during Wight's vacation at Disney (which, he admits, was paid for by his "sugar mama"), Hart phoned with some good news. Bischoff had upped the offer, and Paul was going to make a ton of cash.
Probably just as well he didn't put Jim's head through a car window then.
