10 Things We Learned From Rhea Ripley On Stephanie McMahon's WWE Show
3. Edge Is Airbrushed Out
This wouldn’t have been Rhea’s call, obviously, but it’s interesting nonetheless.
Stephanie ran through some of Ripley’s most important steps, including when Judgment Day formed. As McMahon spoke, clips of Ripley, Damian Priest and Finn Bálor were shown. They were the only JD members put on camera - there was no room for Dominik Mysterio or even newer stablemates like Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez or Carlito.
No, Morgan, Rodriguez and Carly weren't in the faction when Rhea was, but they're not the most glaring omissions anyway. There was literally no nod towards Edge. Y'know, the dude responsible for starting Judgment Day in storyline and handpicking both Rhea and Priest. That’s likely because he’s on the AEW roster as Cope these days, but it still feels a little jarring.
It never fails to amaze how WWE can airbrush history when it suits. They're actually really brazen about it, which is almost funny in a twisted way. You just know that Edge would've been all over the place had he still been on company books. He might even have been one of the guys Stephanie grabbed comments from to put Ripley over. Instead, Stephanie's Places was content to pretend he never existed or had a part to play in Rhea's development.
Again, this had nothing to do with Ripley. She didn't format the show or choose which bits of footage could or couldn't be shown. This sort of thing does stand out when watching Steph's weekly though. WWE isn't quite the exclusive bubble it was under her father Vince, but elements of that do creep through every now and then.
