Wright's philosophy on The Godfather gimmick was simple. Behind the curtain, he pulled Vince McMahon to one side and said, "They see enough wrestling - let me entertain 'em". That almost raised a cheer from 'Stone Cold', because he could see precisely what his mate was going for by being so hands on with the boss.

He wanted to stand out on such a packed roster, and Charles knew he couldn't out-wrestle some of the top-tier talents the WWF had at the time. Also, Wright had grand plans for The Godfather's message, and he wasn't shy about telling McMahon what he wanted to do.

This must've been one hell of a conversation.

Wright pinned McMahon down backstage and told him there was a big "smoking audience" out there. He wanted the freedom to talk to them, but knew he needed Vince's permission. Oblivious to some of the references, McMahon went along with it. That's where phrases like, "Light a fatty for this Pimp Daddy" came from.
