10 Things We Learned From WWE 24: Finn Bálor
8. His Parents Helped Him Cope
Bálor was initially diagnosed with a small labrum tear, and looked set to miss just four months of action. The MRI was inaccurate, however, and his doctor didn’t realise the true extent of the damage until Finn was on the operating table.
Thus, what should’ve been a 45-minute procedure lasted for “six or seven hours,” in Bálor’s words, and he was suddenly facing the prospect of six months on the sidelines.
Bálor hadn’t just torn his labrum, but damaged the bone, partially detached a pectoral muscle, and separated a bicep tendon. His shoulder was in a terrible state, and one post-surgery shot caught Finn at his most morose as he sat upright in bed, lamenting that he didn't know how he'd cope.
Fortunately, the Irishman’s parents were on hand to help out. As revealed in the documentary, Finn’s mother and father flew out to Orlando and stayed with him for the difficult first two to three weeks of his recovery process.
His relationship with his family was expanded upon later in 24, but this was the first indication of their closeness, with Finn stating that he “wouldn’t have been able to get through it without them.”
