10 Things We Learned From WWE 24: Finn Bálor

4. A Grassroots Approach

Stating that he’d never really had a chance to say "thanks" to the fans, wrestlers, and trainers that helped him get started in the business, Bálor dives into the Irish wrestling scene after returning home. His shock appearance at an Over The Top show last December features heavily, but things really get interesting when he heads to the wrestling school he helped open in 2002.

Bálor takes a few seminars with the trainees, then speaks about his success alongside countrymen like Sheamus and Becky Lynch, hoping their stories will inspire more students to take up the sport in Ireland.

He’s shown poking fun at a young hopeful wearing a Seth Rollins shirt, before taking WWE UK star Jordan Devlin aside and using him as an example when addressing group. While WWE seemed like an unattainable goal when Bálor was younger, Devlin, he says, is living proof that reaching the highest level is no longer out of their grasps.

These scenes show that not only is Bálor dedicated to his craft, but helping those around him. He recognises the importance of thriving regional wrestling circuits, and though he’s based in America, he’ll do all he can to build the Irish scene.
