Recent editions of the Chronicle series have straddled a bizarre line between on-screen narrative and a second layer of fictionalised reality, resulting in a somewhat confused mixed message which only really serves to muddle the story further.

That was the case once more with this episode, as Roman Reigns seemed to take legitimate (read: pretend) umbrage with a Drew McIntyre promo which made reference to his wife and children. "There's a tasteful way to do everything," he chastises. "All this has done is p*ss me off. As far as character stuff, this is bullsh*t."

For Roman's lambast to make any sort of sense, we have to accept that he is speaking about the reality behind the scripted lines. In which case, we we know that he knows McIntyre's barbs are prepared in advance, and simply part of the entertainment. So the idea is to give a pretend match we're being told to dismiss as fiction added bite based on Drew's 'unscripted' comments? It's all so much gibberish.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
