Wrestling can be a self-destructive business. When stars try to hold onto their spots for too long and prevent up-and-comers from receiving opportunities, it's the sport as a whole which eventually suffers. In that way, short-sighted and selfish main eventers are often responsible for the industry's self-cannibalization.

Thankfully, not every established star is like that. During her acceptance speech, Beth Phoenix spoke about how when she was first trying to break into WWE, she found encouragement from Molly Holly, who was already firmly entrenched in the company's hierarchy. After meeting Holly, Phoenix showed up to OVW to train, readying to make a $100 payment toward her lessons. However, she was told that Holly had already paid for her training in full, and that all she needed to worry about was attending class.

It was nice to hear about a star taking a newcomer under her wing and trying to ensure that the future of the wrestling business was in good hands. Hopefully more WWE wrestlers take a lesson from her paying it forward.
