This writer was fortunate enough to manage some wrestlers who were working a tag-team match with Black and then-partner Dante in ICW several years ago. As the quartet went over their match, his passion for wrestling was obvious, and he almost found it hard to slow down and explain all the little nuances he had planned.

That's pretty much what Black was getting at in the podcast interview when he said that it took him an age to grow accustomed to WWE's ways of doing things.

On the independent circuit, Aleister knew what worked for him and what didn't. That all changed when he joined WWE, and it was actually Terry Taylor (yes, that Terry Taylor, he of Red Rooster infamy) who helped him adjust to a fresh set of demands.

Finding it hard to discard trusty habits he'd picked up on the indys, Black left WWE's Performance Center muttering to himself that he "didn't know what he was doing" more than once. Through perseverance and guidance, Taylor helped him channel his natural zest and energy into something that'd work within WWE's parameters.
