In a rather surprising moment of intense personal gratification, Bálor reveals during discussion of his year-long feud with Samoa Joe that losing the NXT Championship to him during a Lowell, Massachusetts house show in April 2016 was the "most memorable night" of his career.

As he put it; "Feuding with Samoa Joe for a year was a turning point in the career of Finn Bálor. No politics, no backstabbing, no complaining, we were just having the buzz. Lowell, Massachusetts was the most memorable night of my career. The way we swerved everybody and the shock on people’s faces was incredible. Laying there in pure euphoria, [it was one of] one of the coolest moments ever. Real genuine emotion in those people’s faces.”

A run first as partners with Joe and later mortal enemies proved to be the beginning of the end for Finn in NXT after tying up another loose end against Shinsuke Nakamura. It was the best of times and a calm before a devastating storm...
