10 Things We Need To See Before WWE's Bloodline Saga Ends
1. Cody Rhodes Dethrones Roman
There have been plenty of logical points to take the belt off Roman, with Drew McIntyre, Sami Zayn, and Jey Uso the most obvious candidates. It’s the WrestleMania 39 result, though, that seems to remain lodged in many fans’ craws, and for good reason. Even if Cody’s link to Reigns isn’t as strong as some others, going forward he just has to be The Guy.
In an ideal world this doesn’t rumble all the way on to WrestleMania XL, but if it does, so be it. Rhodes has taken the last year and a half to establish himself as undeniably the real deal, nabbing some of the biggest fan reactions and most recently picking up a statement win over Brock Lesnar.
As Triple H loves to remind viewers, this is a story that never ends, and Rhodes would take the company forward in a way Zayn or Uso probably wouldn’t. Jey Uso putting down his cousin would be the most fitting way to end this angle, but this isn’t a novel - there’s the next show to think about, and the show after that.
The storyline needs to be juiced up again, but we saw pre-Mania just how quick Cody and Heyman built the hype for the last match. Unless WWE plans a Sammartino-toppling run for Reigns, this is the only conclusion that makes sense.
