After Vince McMahon uttered those now infamous words of 'Bret screwed Bret' the night after the Montreal Screwjob in November 1997, most fans came to terms with the fact that they would probably never see Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels in a WWE ring again.

The pair weren't exactly on the best of terms before the game-changing events of that year's Survivor Series, so any hope of them ever agreeing to work with each other in the future seemed to have been killed on that night in Montreal.

However, that all changed twelve years later on an episode of Monday Night Raw when 'The Hitman' returned to the company and was given a hero's welcome as soon as the first screech of his legendary guitar theme music blasted through the arena speakers.

Hart had been announced as that week's special guest host during a segment between Michaels and McMahon seven days prior to this, so fans were already pinching themselves at the notion of 'HBK' sharing the ring with his old rival.

Wasting little time on the night of his epic return, Hart suddenly called out Michaels and the pair remarkably buried the hatchet there and then.

All those years of bitterness were genuinely washed away in that segment, and against all the odds, the pair even shared an embrace to close off their encounter.
