6. Championship Lineage
For a company that's over fifty years old, it's incredible that WWE as we know it today makes little reference to past champions when a championship is decided. While it can be argued that the Hall of Fame exists for that purpose, the lineage of the belts themselves is often criminally taken for granted.
Jim Ross was a stickler for details in his commentary and would regularly remind viewers of the historical significance of the belts, the champions and the victories. This subtle nod to the past is all but lost in today's product and commentators very rarely acknowledge champions that aren't on the current roster.
This was never more obvious than when John Cena tied Ric Flair's record at 16 World Championship reigns. The accomplishment was a huge feat and one that should have been hailed as one of Cena's crowning achievements to date. Instead, it was glossed over without barely a tip of the cap.
Even the revived Cruiserweight Championship has insanely not carried on the history of the original title - by deliberate choice of WWE. The championship heritage of Dean Malenko, Rey Mysterio, and Eddie Guerrero has been wiped clean in favour of a new start and WWE.com sites TJ Perkins as the inaugural champion.
