10 Things WWE Are Seriously Neglecting In 2017
7. WCW History
WWE have a bad habit of trying to reinvent the wheel in wrestling, creating new incarnations of existing matches when the original will work just as well if not better. This mentality is frequently evident when it comes to anything related to WCW.
Wrestling has long been built on rehashed ideas and recycled material, from match finishes to angles. The rich history of WCW is littered with great ideas, proven concepts and established brands. What's more, it has tradition and heritage to back them up.
Instead of using the wealth of ammo from their WCW history, WWE are instead far more happy to invent second rate concepts that are doomed to fail. Why have WarGames when you can have a labyrinthine mess like the Punjabi Prison and why have a Texas Death Match when you can book a farcical House of Horrors?
This notion also extends to PPV. In an era of more PPVs and Network Specials than ever before, WWE has produced baffling titles like Great Balls of Fire; meanwhile, 2016 also saw two different versions of the Roadblock event.
WWE is seemingly beginning to test the waters with WCW names with the recent announcement of Starrcade in November; however, squandering the legendary brand on a glorified house show is grossly underutilising what could have been a dramatic return of the PPV.
