10 Things WWE Failed To Learn From WCW's Demise

5. Too Much Weekly Product

When Eric Bischoff came under pressure to produce a second prime time television show each week, cracks started to appear pretty quickly. Bischoff himself even directly blames the addition of Thunder to the WCW weekly lineup for the lack of creativity that would wind up floating around the promotion, and it's not hard to see why. Simply put, WCW's writing staff didn't have enough ideas for Thunder, and it became a lame duck of a show as a result. Compare that with WWE's Smackdown broadcast, and things start to become crystal clear, WWE's writing staff are suffering from a very similar problem. Is there too much product in WWE's week? It sure seems that way. Monday Night Raw, Smackdown and NXT are the main shows, but writers also have to give at least some attention to 'B' and 'C' shows like Main Event, Superstars and even what's happening on Pay-Per-Views and the WWE Network. It's proving too much for them to handle.
