In spite of pressure from Sean Mooney, Kevin Kelly, and even Renee Young, it's 'Mean' Gene Okerlund who will always be considered the best backstage interviewer in WWE history. To a young Jeremy Borash, Gene was the man.

Growing up the Minneapolis, Minnesota area, JB watched in awe as Okerlund conducted promos for the AWA with some of wrestling's biggest stars. Showing unmatched poise, an ice-cool Gene made the position his own before later doing the same thing in the WWF.

Borash would eventually get to follow in his hero's footsteps.

When TNA made Borash their top backstage stick man in 2006, it was a childhood dream come true for someone who had cherished Okerlund's performances so much. Jeremy also showed he was pretty damn good at it too; he was a natural fit for the role, and his reactions were spot on.
