8. CM Punk - Kevin Nash Cameo
As Eli Drake, Knight became one of the best talkers in the business, using his Fact of Life talk show segment as his soapbox. Though prior to the conception of Eli Drake, the Namer of Dummies, Knight was present during one of CM Punk’s most infamous promos.
Knight had a “blink and you’ll miss it” cameo on 15 August 2011 episode of Raw, during Kevin Nash’s “I got a text” promo. Nash explained his reasoning for attacking CM Punk at the previous evening’s SummerSlam, rambling about a text message that caused some confusion. Punk demolished Nash’s half-hearted apology and told him to jump off a bridge as it would be “good for business”.
The promo is best remembered for the intense verbal barbs diminishing each other’s contribution to the business, and the snarky piece of Punk comedy, where he read his own text message from his little sister Chaleen:
“OMG! Kevin Nash? WTF? Thought he was dead LOL”
When the fight threatened to turn physical, Punk was blocked by a sombre conga-line of security guards. The guard second from the left is the man we now know as LA Knight.
