9. The Longest Reigning RoH World Champion In History
Samoa Joe may be most famous for his TNA exploits but he made his name in the independent promotion Ring of Honor. Offering a mix of veteran stars such as Mick Foley, Rave and Ricky Steamboat along with future stars like AJ Styles, Joe and CM Punk, Ring of Honor was a very exciting company to watch in the early-to-mid 2000s. Fans seeking an alternative gravitated towards ROH's blend of brawling, Japanese-style and lucha-inspired wrestling. Ring of Honor truly had something for everyone and, for a while, it was one of the hottest companies in the industry. You only have to look at some of the ROH alumni to realise what a special place it was. Samoa Joe was one of Ring of Honor's featured players for a few years, before he joined TNA full-time. Joe was the longest reigning World Heavyweight Champion in the company's history, holding the best for 635 days between March 22nd 2003 (beating Xavier) and December 26th 2004 (losing to Austin Aries). During his time as champ Joe had countless excellent matches and did more than perhaps anyone else to elevate the status of the belt.
