10 Things WWE Fans Need To Know About Samoa Joe

10. A Paul Heyman Guy?

It's not secret that Paul Heyman can see talent where Vince McMahon and the powers-that-be in WWE don't. Heyman was one of the driving forces behind the initial push of CM Punk on ECW in 2006 and has been very vocal in recent times when it comes to praising superstars such as Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens and Cesaro. That Heyman is a fan of Samoa Joe shouldn't come as much of a shock. Even before championing the likes of Punk, Heyman was taking and moulding wrestlers who looked and wrestled unconventionally in ECW. It's something Heyman is known for, as he accentuates the positives and hides the negatives of wrestlers who, under normal circumstances, would not be considered stars. Heyman tore into TNA in an article for UK newspaper The Sun in 2008, following Joe's TNA World Heavyweight Title victory over Kurt Angle in a fantastic, MMA-inspired cage bout. Heyman was impressed by the quality of the match and the presentation of the match but was dumbfounded by TNA's failure to capitalise on their success. He questioned 'what public relations firm was hired to make Samoa Joe €˜the IT guy€™ in today€™s pop culture?' and further slammed TNA's marketing and creative departments. Heyman further alluded to his admiration for Joe with his response to Joe's tweet about leaving TNA. Could Samoa Joe become the next Paul Heyman guy? Hmmm.
