10 Things WWE Got Right At WrestleMania 33
3. A Good Ol' Reunion
No other voice is as synonymous with great WrestleMania moments as Good Ol’ Jim Ross, arguably the best wrestling announcer ever to put on a headset. Having recently lost his wife, JR’s return to the announce desk was somewhat bittersweet, but it felt right. To see and hear him call The Undertaker’s last match alongside JBl and Cole was a smart and classy decision on the part of WWE – when we’re watching replays of the match in years to come, his voice is the one we want to be hearing.
JR lent an instant gravitas to an already highly anticipated match, and even managed to do a good job of pulling the Network/PPV audience through some of the bout’s rougher moments. He called moves and spots with poise, remained calm but emotionally invested throughout, and put Roman Reigns over as an impressive physical specimen without sounding like a pre-scripted set of soundbites.
Whether or not Ross will return to WWE in a more prominent role is unlikely and unknown at this time, but nobody can deny it wasn’t great to have him back.
