10 Things WWE Messed Up At WrestleMania 32
7. Zack Ryder's IC Title Win
Select fans will have got a kick out of Zack Ryder winning the Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match, and giving him the title is not the worst move in the world. But why now?
Once upon a time, the Long Island Iced Z was on par with Daniel Bryan as far as cult favouritism goes. That was five years ago.
Ryder has spent the last year in a failing tag team with Mojo Rawley in NXT. Aside from making sporadic appearances on WWE's minor programming, Ryder was essentially invisible until Neville's unfortunate ankle injury. While Ryder isn't the worst replacement option, he is nowhere near popular enough to hold a WWE championship anymore.
To take the title away from the impending Kevin Owens-Sami Zayn program is a joke. Ryder winning the IC Title is a cool little moment, but there is no long-term value in the reign. Inevitably, the title will bounce around between midcarders rather than be used in a meaningful feud.
