3. Have The Next U.S. Champion Continue The Open Challenges
If ever there has been a year for diehard Cena haters to get back in their box, this is surely it? Aside from being involved in a flurry of PPV match of the year candidates, Big Match John (s/o JBL for making that a thing, you absolute monster) has been the most consistently solid thing about Raw this year. Be honest: how many times have you marked out over the people that have turned up to answer the US Open Challenge so far this year? It's been brilliant, and it's given the belt itself the credibility it sorely needed. So, why stop? With Cena taking time off soon, the person that takes his title has some massive boots to fill, and the WWE writing team has some crucial work to do in keeping the title hot heading into Mania season. So keep the challenges going. If it's a face, then he can keep that proud and honourable tradition alive (imagine Cesaro doing this. Sick, right?). If it's a heel (indeed, a soon-to-be-turning Ziggler is the hot rumour), then he can do it as a way to cockily mock Cena and show that he's amazing (while cheating to win every week, obvs). It's simple and it's effective. It may not work forever, but for now, why mess with a winning formula?
