10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Big Show

6. His Terrible 1999 WWE Title Reign Included Casket Riding

Big Show's first WWE Title reign was very underwhelming. It started at Survivor Series 1999 when he was the unadvertised replacement for Steve Austin, who was injured with a serious neck injury and written out of storylines after he was run over by a car. Show ended up taking his place in a triple threat with The Rock & Triple H and he won the WWE Title much to the surprise of the crowd. I remember because I was there in Detroit that night. We weren't too happy about it. His WWE Title feud was against Big Bossman, who really didn't belong in any WWE Title matches at that point in his career. It was not a feud that excited people. They even did that silly scene at the funeral home where Bossman interrupted the funeral of Big Show's dad, hooked the casket up to a car and hauled off with it as Big Show did some casket riding. It's one of those "so bad it's good" kind of moments that show just how silly wrestling is. The Show/Bossman WWE Title match at Armageddon 1999 was a boring match that went about four minutes that Show won decisively. At least Show got his revenge on the casket thief. A few weeks after that, Show lost the WWE Title back to Triple H on the first Raw of 2000. Show had one of the worst WWE Title reigns ever.
