10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About CM Punk

8. The New Nexus Was Pretty Bad

The Nexus stable was designed to be a group of that was going to make a difference in WWE when it started in 2010. Due to inconsistencies in the booking (they just didn't win enough big matches) and the talent in the group not being the greatest (Michael Tarver?), the group just didn't work out. When you see how well WWE has booked current groups like The Shield and Wyatt Family it makes you wonder how they could have messed up The Nexus so much. In late 2010, Punk became the leader of the New Nexus with the likes of Michael McGillicutty (Curtis Axel), Husky Harris (Bray Wyatt), David Otunga (remember him?) and Mason Ryan (at least he's on NXT these days). They really wanted to get Ryan over as the power guy of the group; it just didn't work. Punk certainly tried his best with the stable, but it wasn't connecting with the crowd. He was feuding with Randy Orton around that time. Once he lost that feud, he had nothing to do until his famous "shoot" promo on Raw in Las Vegas in June of 2011. His most famous match ever was at Money in the Bank 2011 against John Cena. As he entered the ring that night, it said he was still a part of the New Nexus. Technically he was, but the group just ended with a whimper. Just another bad idea. At least it was better than The Corre. Not like many things were worse than that group. Even though Punk has always been a great leader of stables because of his ability on the microphone, The New Nexus wasn't a career highlight.
