10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Jerry Lawler

4. Two Words: Anal Bleeding

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6Po7mf34p0 We see it all the time in wrestling. One guy beats up another guy. The guy that got beat up gets taken out on a stretcher and we rely on the commentators to update us on the condition of the victim. It's like an injury report you might get from a sporting event. You might hear Jim Ross or Michael Cole explain that the guy suffered a bruised sternum or they might use the word "contusion" to make it sound more professional. They might say a victim suffered a sprained knee, a partially separated shoulder, bruised ribs, a back strain or whatever. Make something up to sound legit. We get it. However, on a night in late November they took it to another level. Mark Henry was getting a main event push in 2011 when he won his first World Title in September of that year. Jim Ross was interviewing the World Champion when Henry decided to make things physical. Lawler went into the ring to save Ross. It was a noble move, but it came with a price. Henry destroyed Lawler. The beating ended with Henry the World's Strongest Slam through the announce table. A week later on the September 26, 2011 edition of Raw, Lawler was sitting out the show. The announce team was Michael Cole, Booker T & Jim Ross. When it came time to update Lawler's condition we figured it would be some back or shoulder injury. Cole mentioned that Lawler had bruised ribs. He also ended it by saying these two words: anal bleeding. What's so funny about it is that after Cole begrudgingly mentioned the injury, Booker looked at him and simply said: "What? Wow!" It was hilarious. Yeah that's right. The man was bleeding from the ass because he was put through a table like dozens of others in wrestling history. Needless to say, that was the first and last time that "anal bleeding" was used to describe a worked wrestling injury in WWE.
