At the time of his tournament win, Savage was moving up the ranks after dropping the Intercontinental Title to Ricky Steamboat at WrestleMania 3. It was obvious that WWE had high hopes for him because the next year he won the WWE Title for the first time. How come WWE didn't really acknowledge the King of the Ring win in 1987?
