10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Scott Hall
2. He Was In And Out Of WWE Sponsored Rehab Many Times
"There's got to be some reason that I'm still here. I should have been dead 100 times. I should have been dead 100 times." - Scott Hall on ESPN's E:60 in 2011. When ESPN aired their feature story on Hall in 2011, Stephanie McMahon spoke about how WWE had tried to help Hall over the years: "It's the most amount of money we've spent on anyone. I just want Scott to get help and to decide for himself that he needs help. It makes me sad. I don't want anybody to pass away prematurely or otherwise really. Scott was an incredibly talented performer, larger than life, charismatic. He's a father, he's a friend. I'm sure he means a lot to a lot of people and it would be a shame for him to pass away." While no dollar figures were mentioned, different reports over the years have stated they have spent upwards of well above six figures for all of his rehab stints. Apparently he was in and out of rehab about ten times over the years, if not more. That's because WWE has gone out of their way to help any current or former talents by paying for them to go to rehab. It's a great thing that WWE does that they really don't have to do, but it has likely saved some lives in recent years. Throughout the late 2000s, there were many stories of Hall getting booked for wrestling shows and showing up in a drunken state to the point that it was embarrassing to watch. For some reason, people kept booking him even though they knew he was in a bad place. Thankfully in 2013, Hall was able to clean up his life thanks to the help of his friend Diamond Dallas Page and his DDP Yoga program. He lost a lot of weight, got into much better shape and reportedly stopped drinking. His story, along with that of fellow 2014 Hall of Famer Jake Roberts, inspired wresting fans all over the world. That's a big reason why they got into the Hall of Fame this year. They were never in good enough shape before. Hall recently no showed an indy show appearance because he said he wasn't in a good place, which likely means he was drinking again. Hopefully he can continue to fight against his addictions and overcome them.
