10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Scott Hall
3. His 2002 Return To WWE Was A Disaster
Three months. That's how long it took Scott Hall to get fired after his much hyped return as part of the NWO in 2002. When the trio of Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash and Hall were brought into WWE for the No Way Out PPV in February 2002 they were there to inject a "poison" into WWE as Vince McMahon called it. In other words, they were going to enter as heels. While Hogan was booked in a much publicized bout with The Rock at WrestleMania 18, Hall got to face off with Steve Austin. Since Austin main evented three of the previous four WresteManias, it was a huge deal for Hall to go up against him. Austin ended up winning clean although the match wasn't very good. There are also stories that Kevin Nash was left off the WrestleMania 18 card because WWE was concerned about Hall's condition, so if Hall was unable to compete against Austin they would have just inserted Nash in his place. Hall was being fired by WWE in May of 2002 after repeatedly showing up in no condition to perform. They couldn't risk putting him in the ring anymore. He never returned to WWE as an active wrestler while Hogan and Nash did continued for several years. During his Hall of Fame induction, there was absolutely no mention of his brief return to WWE in 2002 with good reason. It was definitely not a career highlight for him.
