1. Chris Benoit Dropped The World Title To Randy Orton In 2004
The main point listed here may be the obvious choice, but that's because it's the right choice too. Randy Orton made history at SummerSlam 2004 in Toronto when he became the youngest World Heavyweight Champion in history by defeating Chris Benoit clean in the middle of the ring with the RKO. Orton was 24 years old. His record as the youngest World Champion in WWE history still stands ten years later and it doesn't look like it's going to end any time soon. Whenever WWE addresses this moment they never mention Benoit. The only photo about the match on WWE.com is a shot of Orton kissing the World Title. No sign of his opponent. No other pics of that moment. We know why WWE wants us to forget it. Benoit murdered his wife Nancy and son Daniel in 2007. He also killed himself. It's been discovered that he had some brain damage, so perhaps that was a cause for it. It was still murder. His name is still blacklisted by WWE. You can watch Benoit matches on WWE Network because they don't edit that stuff out, but they aren't promoting it either. It's too bad that Orton's historical win can't be celebrated more, but in this case it's certainly understandable why WWE does it.
