10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Survivor Series

5. Zeus Hype Leading To Quick DQ In 1989

It was 1989. Hulk Hogan was still a very big name in WWE despite the fact that Randy Savage was the WWE Champion. Hogan's main rival was a guy named Zeus. He wasn't very good in the ring, but he was as big as Hogan, he looked mean and they did the movie No Holds Barred together, so WWE hyped him up huge. Their showdown at Survivor Series was supposed to be a big deal as they squared off. Their altercation involved some shoving, then a shoulder block and Hogan hit a bunch of power moves that couldn't knock down Zeus. Then he raked the eyes of Zeus and slammed him, but Zeus got back to his feet. Zeus did a neck snap move, then he did a choke and wouldn't let go. Zeus shoved the ref, then choked some more and he did it again. The ref disqualified Zeus, so that was it for him. http://youtu.be/PX3vKX6c1FE WWE spent all that time promoting that showdown, spending all that time building up Zeus for three minutes of in-ring action that included selling one bodyslam and then being a dumbass that held onto a choke for too long. Why does WWE want you to forget this? Because Zeus was one of the worst in-ring performers ever. This match showed it.
