10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Aleister Black
3. Their Anti-US Title Win Excuse Was Bullsh*t
Black's post-WWE release Twitch session was rather eye-opening stuff. In it, the man described his frustrations but vowed not to let his departure get on top of him. Then, he also revealed something else: Vince McMahon cancelled a planned United States Title win in the middle of 2020.
The boss reportedly believed that Black needed to win his first singles title on Raw in front of a live crowd, so he was keen to wait on fans to return to ringside. That, somewhat remarkably, was something Aleister viewed as a positive sign for his prospects - if McMahon wanted to wait, then he had a future.
It was also complete and utter bullsh*t.
WWE booked other significant title switches during the pandemic era. Big E, for example, won the Intercontinental Title on SmackDown during the Christmas-New Year sprint. Y'know who wasn't there to see it? A live crowd. E bagged the belt in front of the ThunderDome masses.
This US cancellation was just another pothole on Black's road through WWE.
