That's why people booed the living crap out of Bayley when she played the sympathy card.

Before a scheduled SummerSlam 2017 match against Alexa Bliss, Bayley appeared on Raw wearing a sling and announced that injuries would force her to cancel. Her mournful face, the way her shoulders were slumped and the sling were all supposed to heap sympathy on a babyface dream temporarily dying.

Sadly for the would-be-Raw Women's Title challenger and her employers, fans refused to play along and even booed Bayley's speech. It was a moment in time, one that should've warned WWE about proceeding down the same path ever again. Host Charly Caruso's embarrassed face said it all.

Bayley reacted to the negativity herself by mouthing, "Come on" as fans rejected her apologies. Keep in mind this happened over two years ago now, and yet there was no abundant change in Bayley's character until just a few weeks ago.
